Considering the Finder, where a slider had 3+ options to select, the user would eventually get frustrated. They could have kept it and added the same blue colour to the text or option being selected.
Why do we assume that the person using it is an idiot? What was so confusing about it? It takes two seconds to get use to it.
I think inverted scrolling has the potential to confuse people more and is probably harder to get use to.
Complex Rose TattooOverall, disappointing.
From the MacRumors live update (thanks guys), there was waaaaaay too much dull stuff about movies /snore
Would have liked to hear about a Leopard update; increase in capacity of iPhone and Touch; perhaps news of 3G support; hear more about the SDK; see some more cool iPhone app demos.
I like the Time Capsule though, as I'm looking for a back-up drive since Time Machine came along. I'll be picking one of those up.
tribal rose tattoo design 1While Symbian might have been first, I was talking strictly about iOS vs Android as that was what the poster hinted at.
Backgrounding certain tasks is fine, and yes it works well even though it's not a replacement for multi-tasking. What I hate is the task manager they came up with that is near useless since it doesn't actually give you a list of running tasks. It's a list of everything you've done with the phone, in like ever. You need to manually clean it up and even then, you don't know what is and isn't running.
I wasn't talking about design and updates. More like the marketing effort and the stagnation between said spec bumps. They marketed the crap out of the Rev A, then it just fell out of sight. Same for AppleTV 1st generation.
But thanks for assuming and correcting me on something I didn't mention or hint at. Real classy.
Honestly I think Apple got the multitasking almost spot on... the way it manages it is perfect for a device with limited battery/processing power.
In the last 6 months I've "fixed" two phones for people (1x Android, 1 x Symbian) who've installed an app that's running constantly in the background and making the phone unusable to the point they thought it was broken. I used to find it with my own Nokia N95, the multitasking ability was excellent but you had to be careful what you left running or the battery could run down in a few hours.
I think Apple have made an excellent trade-off in that way, it used to bug the hell out of me that I couldn't use sat nav or internet radio apps in the background, but since iOS 4 I've really not found any situation where I need "true" multitasking and the current implementation has little effect on the battery.
That said, I agree with what you say about the task manager, it feels really clunky. I don't know what would be the best way to change it, but I'm sure there has to be something better.
Going back to what the OP is saying, no Apple is of course not unique in innovating, to suggest so is just blinkered. Taking the point of the multitasking or even copy and paste, I'm pretty sure that if other mobile OSs weren't doing this, Apple would have been happy to sit back and say sorry, you just can't do that. They can be quite an arrogant company like that.
Tribal Rose Tattoo DesignAbsolute BS.
Amazon Market may be the answer as I doubt they'd feel the need to buckle to carriers. Good thing that no one is taking my portable hotspot feature from my Nexus. :D
Edit: To clarify, the "BS" from my opinion comes from carriers ability to restrict applications on a third party Market (Android Market).
rose tattoo designsHmm. Anyone think that there's a chance of a price drop on the Airport Express?
I got mine last Back Friday and it was discounted.. so maybe.

Anyone else having trouble getting the new update on a 2011 MBP?
I've tried twice to install and on reboot, my MBP hangs on the spinning progress indicator. Doesn't make any difference whether I boot in normal mode or safe mode, it just hangs.
Only way to get back to a normal service is to completely reinstall the OS, but not upgrade to the new version.
Anyone else had this problem?

Nope.
That iCal is kinda annoying.
Rose Tattoo (33) One Of TheYou have hundreds of phone choices.
I doubt the legislation would make people happier. Most of you would find something else to complain about (e.g. price, features).
Um...Competition will only make things better in a Capitalist market.

Verizon after the 1st of the year... Yes!
4G... No.
Other carriers... Yes!
I just don't see Apple changing all that much other than supporting CMDA in the iPhone 4.... IP 5.0... thats a different story. Verizon only... I think Apple needs all the carriers in the US now... the limited days need to end and this would give the iPhone 5 a great launch pad to a HUGE success. Sort of like most of Apple's products now. :)
The Best Rose Tattoo Designs 6we can set this up...
stay tuned.

of Rose Tattoo DesignsThe ad is very misleading because it leaves out any EDGE coverage. T-Mobile and AT&T do not have roaming for 3G HSPA since they each use different frequencies for their 3G netowrks.
Doesn't AT&T piggyback on T-mobile's network and vice-versa? Shouldn't the map reflect that?
Rose Tattoo Designs Image 9Methinks you don't have a good grasp of public key encryption. (Or at least how it's supposed to work).
The encryption key is the one that is top secret because it's the one you keep private, and is the one which would allow DoubleTwist (or anyone else) to masquerade as iTS. The decryption key, by it's very nature, is vulnerable and in effect "public" (since it must be on the client machine, so it can be discovered). There is a flaw in the FairPlay system that Jon has exploited before (as I mentioned earlier in the thread) which has to do with the fact that the files are personalized locally on the client machine, so if they can fool iTunes into personalizing third party files, they're in like Flynn. (This also has the effect of making a private key or equivalent available on the system which may be the chink in FairPlay's armor).
Essentially, the FairPlay system is one that implies a certain amount of trust. Once you authorize a machine all of the purchased tracks from that account on the machines can be decrypted. Even if they are not on the machine at the time of the authorization and the machine is not on the network at the time (I have played back encrypted videos on DVD-R on my iBook while it was not on the 'net.)
I don't know how often it needs to "phone home" so you can't just load up 5 machines with protected content, detach them from the network and deactivate all of your machines at iTMS... Then spend the next year working on 5 more systems...

good lord, if anyone actually got through reading all this, can there be any doubt left that all consumers want is DRM-free content??? There's a simple rule that exists - the more complicated the DRM you put on your content, the less likely that people are going to buy it. Hence, people are downloading music and movies for free, and ripping Netflix DVDs to their hard drives to burn their own copies.
You can't put the genie back in the bottle. Until there's DRM-free movies and music for sale online, so-called pirated downloads will continue to dwarf legal downloads. End of story.
Best Rose Tattoo DesignsBe careful when buying at an Apple Store that they don't pawn off on you the previous generation model. I was told by an employee that they were the same except for the price. If your not careful they may try to sell their existing stock at the reduced price. Buy online for now. I can't see a way to tell which model is current and which is prior, except for the obvious brightness.
Rose Tattoo Design. roseThe fewer the people in a nation, the easier it is to say they are the best or the worst in certain things.
So a ratio isn't necessarily a ratio, then? It depends on the population size?
longhorn tattoo design tattooIt's basically the ultimate "access" machine. Just yesterday I used my phone as a dictionary, store, terminal to enterprise software, link to external contact database. (also made some phone calls) iPad would be similar. Lookup, lookup, lookup. Web browsing is covered under that, too.
One thing the iPad brings that any phone cannot is a level of professionalism. In the companies I deal with, using your phone during a meeting looks questionable, like you're fooling around. Using a tablet or laptop to do the exact same lookup of whatever would be ok. It's a little silly, but that's the vibe I get currently.
This is not to say everyone has use for it. I'm happy with the phone, I'm not in that many meetings.
What, you don't carry a projector in your back pocket? :D Even with the retina display I feel like my i4 is just too small to really "show anyone" anything on. It's almost like a toy coming out of the pocket when you are in a serious situation. The iPad produces a more serious tone to it. Still, if at all possible I use my iPhone much more because it doesn't take both hands to manage it. There will always be the size advantage/disadvantage between the two.
P.S. The box surrounding the up/down buttons is baboon-ass ugly.
Web-surfing baboons might not agree with your assessment, but I'm pretty sure humans would. Those boxes are not supposed to be there.

If I want to open 10 threads on the subject in 10 different forums, well.. **** it.. that is how I like it.
If you want to take a dump in the pool because "that's the way you like it" that's fine. Don't expect anyone else to like it.
(I think 2/3 pages in this thread are not related to the code itself, instead everybody is giving his point of view about why or why not Pro developers should help new ones.)
Obviously you attract that, for some reason.

more like late 2012. milestone 2 already leaked
Late 2012??…. I think we finally found what the cause of the doomsday will be…!
And even if they are not the cause, they have to be 2012-end-of-the-world proof safe :D
Is Windows 8 then Windows 7.0, like Windows Seven is actually Windows 6.1?
Thats just the NT version. Windows 8 will be 6.2
7 was 6.1,
Vista was 6.0
XP was 5.0
Technically Windows 7 is the 10th version of Windows, if you don't count Windows Server.
Windows 7 is the 7th version if you count from Windows 95.
