INDIA move-up to 154th in World Rankings!

The world football governing body FIFA released the latest FIFA World Rankings earlier today in which India gained four spots to be now 154th amongst the 208 ranked nations and territories, while within Asia India moved to 27th amongst 46 nations in the rankings.

Amongst the South Asian nations India is closing in on Nepal (152nd) as second ahead of Bangladesh (157th), Maldives (175th), Afghanistan (178th), Pakistan (181st), Sri Lanka (182nd) and Bhutan (201st).

India is joint 154th along with Caribbean side Bahamas behind Curacao and ahead of the Philippines with 141 points, three more then last month. The points were gained through the change of points on the year to year calculations. The points are calculated over a four year period.

India's next assignment will be the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup in Nepal from March 8 to 19, 2012. There India could gain some useful points to move-up the FIFA World Rankings.

Meanwhile there has been one change amongst the top five of the FIFA World Rankings. World champions Spain (1,566 points) stay at the top with Germany (1,369) now second ahead of the Netherlands (1,359), Uruguay (1,317) and England (1,179) behind them.
