Lakers to Revenge On Dwayne Wade?

Kobe Bryant was on the receiving end of a hard foul from Dwayne Wade during the all-star game. Bryant suffered a broken nose and a mild concussion. Could Derek Fisher dish out some punishment like he did against the Rockets' Luis Scola?

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade said he sent a message of apology to Kobe Bryant after unintentionally breaking his nose during a hard foul in Sunday's All-Star Game.

"It's all I can do," Wade said of the message to Kobe. "He knows it's no ill intent of me to do that to him. Talk about me for taking the foul, but I never wanted that kind of outcome."

The Los Angeles Lakers announced on its website that Bryant suffered a nasal fracture during the Western Conference's 152-149 win over the East on Sunday night.

Bryant was bloodied by a hard foul and stayed in the game, but he left to be evaluated afterward. A CT scan revealed a broken nose, but no concussion.

Bryant did not attend the team's first practice after the All-Star break on Tuesday and his status for Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves is "unknown at this time," according to a team spokesman.

Germany beaten by resurgent France

One of the Euro2012 favourites Germany suffered a 1-2 home defeat at the hands of a resurgent France in an international friendly at the Weserstadion, Bremen. While a weakened Germany had their coordination problems between defence and attack, the new Equipe Tricolore used two of their counter-attacks to shock their neighbours.

France looked well prepared for the match against Germany, had two early chances and it didn't come as a big surprise that they went ahead in the 21st minute through a Olivier Giroud goal after right-back Mathieu Debuchy had used the gap offered to him before playing the ball into the centre for an in-form Giroud to simply push in.

The make-shift German side reacted after going down by a goal with some nice combinations and threatened the goal of new France captain Hugo Lloris, but Klose, Özil and others were either denied by Lloris or hit wide of the target. Just before the break Germany's André Schürrle had to go off after Debuchy's elbow hit him in the face. Luckily for the Leverkusen winger the first diagnosis of a broken nose did not come true. It remained 1-0 for France at the break.

If one thought that after the breather Germany would regroup and continue to threathen the France goal was to be disappointed then suddenly France had more of the ball and the game. The second French goal seemed to be coming when substitute Florent Malouda scored of a rebound in the 69th minute following a Giroud attempt.

Once more Germany seemed to wake-up only after conceding a goal and they pressed for a consolation goal late in the match and were rewarded in the first-minute of injury time through substitutes combining, Benedikt Höwedes found a free Thomas Müller on the right, who played the ball into the middle with Cacau tapping the ball in from the far corner.

In the end it was a deserving 2-1 win for France, who remain unbeaten in 18 matches; while for Germany a 10 match unbeaten run came to an end. Coach Joachim Loew said after the match that a lot of work remains before Euro2012 starts in June, while his counterpart Laurent Blanc said his team played well but it remains to be seen if they would be amongst the favourites.

Australian GP 'least viable' on calendar - Ecclestone

The Australian Grand Prix is currently the season opener

Bernie Ecclestone has warned organisers of the Australian Grand Prix that their event is currently the "least viable" on the calendar.
Speculation over the future of the race has been rife for several years, with concerns about the cost of setting the race up each year and vocal opposition from certain members of the Victorian state parliament. Last year Ecclestone gave local fans hope when he said "Australia is just as important to us as Monaco and has been for an awful long time," but he now appears to have changed his mind.
"We have a contract which we will respect - so up until 2015 we are in good shape," Ecclestone toldThe Age on Wednesday. "After then, we really don't know. If we were to have a divorce from our friends in Melbourne we would probably be walking away from Australia. Because I can't see how Adelaide could make it happen, or anywhere else, if Melbourne can't. The race itself, from our point of view, is probably the least viable of all the races we have."
He said the grand prix would have to continue to make financial sense to Formula One's owners with potential venues emerging away from Formula One's traditional destinations.
"We have other races ready to take the place of Australia - which we don't want to happen. But it would be wrong of me to have to report to our board, 'Terribly sorry about this but we have to walk away from wherever to retain Australia'.''
